I've lost my helpers

So Kyle and Kam's are in school all day they leave at 7:10 in the morning and get home around 4:30 it really is such a long day, long day for them and me and I must say I am missing them. They are both so helpful and it's a lot more quiet with out them here.

But I will say so far I am loving the education they are getting. Kambree's class read a story about George Washington, they get to learn a lot about our founding fathers, classical education looks to the past for ways we can learn to live good lives. They talk about minute men and the Revolutionary war, they are actually growing plants for science, they have P.E. one day and Music the other and rotate every other day so they get both atleast twice a week insted of the once a week for both at the regular public school and they are learning wisdom and virtue. They are being taught you cannot only be wise, history tells us and shows us that wise men and women can be evil and do evil things to each other. In order for people to be able to fulfill their purposes in life they must be both wise and virtuous. If you are wise and virtuous then you can be a true righteous leader. They are teaching the kids about "the greater things in life" which they define as Charcter, Charity, Civility, Destiny, Dicipline, Excellence, Industry and Thrift, Integrity, Loyalty, Originality and Creativity, Patriotism, and Service.

Some pretty cool things. It has been neat to see a school focus on teaching children such wonderful traits and attributes while they are being educated. It's nice because they are teaching many of the things we teach our kids in our home so it is neat that they can get it at school too. The schools vision is to teach children how to be good people and fulfill their destiny not to just go out and get a job they feel that if they teach kids how to be good people and prepare them for their destiny they will naturally have a very high self-esteem and become really good people which will in turn prepare them for what ever job they seek and they will give back to society positivily. They have this quote at the bottom of ever page the the parent/student handbook "To every man there comes in his lifetime, that special moment when he is tapped on his shoulder and offered a chance to do a very special thing, unique to him and fitted to his talents. What a tragedy, if that moment finds him unprepared or unqualified for the work which would be his finest hour." Winston churchhill

Good stuff!! So far it has been great. But I do miss my helpers and love it when they come home each day!

It was so sweet I caught her reading to lizzie one day.

I miss my Kam's holding Lizzie through out the day!

Kyle wanted me to take this picture cause lizzie had grabbed onto his ear, I think by the time I actually got the picture she had let go but atleast I took the picture for him:) He's a great big brother!

Are they going to a private school or Montessori or something? That is really cool. Isn't it too bad that those things are taken out of the typical public education system?

Btw, love the picture up top with your kids and their feet, too cute!

It sounds you live in a very good school district. Here in California it seems like the schools are only getting worse not better.

I hear on having your helpers gone all day. That is one thing I miss about having them in school.

That school sounds awesome! I wish there was something like that here...that is a great quote from Winston Churchill.

I am the worst friend for not keeping in touch, but I think about you all the time. I should call you and get all your supermom hints. I would love to come visit you sometime, or if you're ever in WA and have a few free minutes, let me know. We got your cute baby announcement a few weeks ago.

Anyway, hope you are doing well.

I love that you love their school...I would love to love my childrens' school...but instead, it seems as though I get comments like..."Mommy, my teacher has an earing in her bellybutton!!!" Oh heavens...how do I explain that her role model is modeling some immodest behavior...sigh...

Wow...I've been out of "blogland" for a while...and you've got a lot of new postings that I haven't read. It was so fun to see what all ya'll have been up to. Ya'll had a busy summer! I couldn't believe how many babies there were in that pic at the Peterson fam reunion! That's crazy!

Sounds like things are going really good with the kids new school. That's great! It's especially great that they are no longer in Caldwell schools! You're lucky!
