We left out of Galveston Texas, so we were able to go and stay a day with my Brother and sister-in-law who live in Houston, Texas. It was so fun to see their home and spend some good time with them and their kids. On Monday Nicki took us down to Galveston to board the boat and we were able to eat at Rudy's BBQ. Joe served his mission in Texas and had told me all these great things about Rudy's so it was so fun to eat there with him while he reminisced about old times. Texas is beautiful and the people there were exceptionally kind, it took me a bit by sup rise, I really enjoyed our time there.
The water... it truly amazed me every time I looked at it. So blue and so beautiful!!!
Playing miniature golf (there were so many fun things to do on the ship a track runs around the miniature golf course and Joe and I were able to run on it, it was so fun to run together and to run right by the ocean, Beautiful)
The sunset the first night.
I just couldn't get over how beautiful the sunsets and the water was, I love the reflection of the sun in this picture.
This was formal night we dressed up for dinner and ate lobster and prime rib, it was delicious. We had a great group of couples at our table and we got to be such good friends. We looked forward to dinner every night.
The front of the ship with a view of the water park.
Coming into port Yuccatan Mexico (look close you can see the land off in the distance)
Chin Chin itiza (I am not positive on the spelling I just spelled it like you pronounce it) We took van and drove about 2 hours to see these Mayan ruins complete with a pyramid. They have been pronounced one of the wonders of the world and they were amazing, it was so cool hearing about all the history behind them. It's amazing what people believed back then and some of the things they praticed. Grateful I live now:)
They played a sport where you had to get a ball through that little hole on the side of the wall (look close you can see it, it's really small though, hence the reason I was in the kicking position) They would play the game for sometimes days because it would take so long for them to get the ball through the hole. When they did the winners were sacrificed as a human sacrifice... Crazy, we asked why not the loser and they said they only wanted to give the best to the Gods. Guess I'd try hard not to win.
This was a place where they did the human sacrifices if you look close there are skulls on the stones.
One of the buildings
The courtyard
The pyramid... It had so much meaning behind it. There were a certain amount of steps leading up to the top all had symbolism and it was part of their calendar and how they kept track of the days of the year. They were very smart people. Inside the pyramid is another smaller pyramid.
A closer look.
After the ruins our guide took us to see an underground river. We walked up to the railing and looked down and that is what we saw, a huge hole in the middle of the earth with the most beautiful fresh clean water inside. It was so neat one of my favorite sights to see. The vines and greenery around it were beautiful too.
A look as we got closer to the water.
And closer.
At the bottom... You could swim in the water, it was so clear and beautiful you could see fish all over it was just so amazing.
A view of the vines looking up.
Our cruise ship... and one hot guy:)
Some vegetation it was beautiful there.
Another picture of the water I just couldn't get over how blue it was.
Our second day at a port Cozumel, Mexico, this was at Paradise beach.
We played on the water toys, snorkeled and ate authentic Mexican food on the beach. It was a great day!
Joe snorkeling in the water, we actually left that beach later that day to go to a place that had a bunch more rocks and was better for snorkeling (our camera battery died so I wasn't able to get any pictures). We were able to see some really neat ocean life. Beautiful fish I'd only seen in tanks before, some people right near us had seen a mama Octopus and a baby. I saw a pretty big jelly fish that kept me sipping pina colada's on the beach, the drinks were amazing even though we had them without alcohol. my favorite: Miami vice, half pina colada and half strawberry daiquiri. It was so so good.
The resort complete with a swimming pool.
The last day was spent on the boat it was a fun relaxing day. We went to a super funny newly wed game, and attended a couple health/weight loss classes that the fitness center put on, that stuff is right up my ally so I loved it, we learned some really cool stuff. Then we enjoyed again an amazing dinner caught a comedy show and a dance show.
The next morning we were back in Galveston and headed back to the airport to catch our flight. It was sad to say good bye but I was so EXCITED to see my kids.
These were drawn for us while we were gone, I am glad we are so loved and missed:)
and everyone wanted to sleep in our room with us, I didn't complain. It was so great to be home. I am so grateful I get to do what I do every single day. I wouldn't trade it for the world, even for a chance to vacation every day, I know I might be weird but my life is wonderful.
My mom watched our kids for a whole week, I even got called Grandma for a few days after she left:) I had to remind Lizzie what my name was:) Thank you mom you are amazing I know it was crazy for her but she is a trooper filling my shoes for me. The kids behaved well and I think the week was great for all of them. I have to say I have the best mom in the whole world.
