Hearing Aid

Well I took Kambree in for another hearing evaluation after they replaced one of the tubes that was plugged a couple of weeks ago. This girl has been to the doctor or audiologist so many times since she got the tubes, we have had lots of issues with them being plugged I think they were only both open for a short time and then she has had trouble with them ever since. It would be nice if we could keep them open so we could atleast know how much the tubes can help her. Regardless of the tubes she has some significant hearing loss in the left ear when you isolate it and then ask her to say a word to you she can only say the word back to you 10% of the time so she really has a hard time deciphering speech with the one ear. On the other hand if we can keep the right from being plugged then she has perfect hearing in that ear but the audiologist says right now with it being plugged she hears like as if she was plugging her ears so she can hear it's just muted so hopefully we can get the good ear unplugged. Needless to say most of the doctors and audiologists we have seen have said it would do her well to get a hearing aid in the one ear. When kids that need hearing aids and don't have or get them they usually struggle in school and they are delayed and it is a lot harder for them cause they are not hearing well.
I just get so sad for her one more thing... She has glasses, she wears a very noticable brace on her foot she has a physical disability with walking, fine motor skills etc. and now a hearing aid I am saddened by her needing one more device but if it will help her in the long run hear better and do better in school then that is what she needs. I am sad to just have to see her go through one more thing. She on the other hand once again has a wonderful attitude about it and is always positive. She never ceases to amaze me I love this little girl she is one of my greatest teachers, and so we await her new hearing aid. Well see where it takes us.

Have you met her family? I think she will be fine. She has had way more love and support than most kid. Also, it seems that she has an older brother that will make sure she is well looked after at school. And she is quite a cute little girl!

Aren't you glad that we live in a time when medically they can do so much for us and our children. I feel so blessed to live now. It is going to be hard but she will get through and so will you!!

I'm with Annie :) Brandon and I always bring you up when we are talking about great mom's and good families. Kambree is such a sweetheart and I am sure you feel protective of her. that would be hard to add one more device... but I'm glad she has you and a sweet little outlook on life.

Kambree is such a sweet girl. (She's one of my favorite grandchildren, by the way, but don't tell anyone else I said that, ok?)

She is so blessed to be in your family, and you are all so blessed to have her.

The sky's the limit, Kambree, so you go girl!!
