The kids and I went to an awesome park last week, I didn't take the camera so I don't have any pictures of it. But we had such a blast. They had a water area and then a few other play areas one with some huge swings (one like you use for babies but big so older kids can swing in them) Kyle asked if he Kayelee, and Kapri could go swing on them and I said sure. I didn't really pay attention to what happened while they were there but a while later a women comes up to me and asks me if my son is the one in the yellow shorts I say "yeah he belongs to me" and she said "can I give him these two quarters" at first I was thinking why, that is weird, and then she continued "my daughter asked him to push her in the swing he was over there pushing her for a while, she has disabilities and not often do people take time to be kind to her and what he did was so sweet and meant a lot to her and me." At this point I was just about in tears, I said "he dosen't need any money for that he was happy to do it." I said "he has a sister with disabilities and he is sensitive to those things" She said "I just really want to give him a little something for doing that I went to my car to get the quarters and I just think it is good sometimes that kids get rewarded for doing good things." At that point I just said "sure he would love them." She walked over to him and thanked him for what he had done and gave him the quarters and he just had the biggest smile on his face. Later after the women had left I watched her leave and her daughter was an older girl 10 or 12 and she had some severe disabilities and I was so thankful that even when I was not there my sweet boy would have compassion on someone who needed a little extra love. Even though Kambree's disabilities do not impare her mind it has made all of our family a little more sensititive to those who need a little extra help and love. I am so greatful for that blessing from her.
Later after the lady left I asked Kyle " doesn't that make you feel so good inside?" and he gave me the biggest smile and said "YEAH" as I gave him 5 for being so awesome.
What an experience it's it reminds me of the difference you can make in someones life by just taking some time out of yours to care.
My kids are my greatest teachers and I am so grateful for them and the sweet lessons they teach everyday.
