like that thing hanging out of your body? This little thing has been such a worry and a frustration all while being a life line for Kayelee. This is her pheresis line or port. It has bled on and of since it was put in, hence the bloody dressing (and thats nothing compared to how it has been). This is how her plasma pheresis is done... In one line they pull her blood out, spin it and then pull out her plasma then in the other line they put it back in with plasma from a doner.
I am glad this blog is private so I know who is looking at these pictures:) Kayelee would die if she knew you all saw, it is embarassing to her. Hopefully this gives you a better idea of what goes one with plasma pheresis as well and how it works.
We have a love/hate relationship with this little friend most of you know, especially this last bout in the hospital, this line has been a nightmare, but thank goodness for it at the same time.

Right under that dressing the tube goes straight into her skin and right down to her heart... A little scary, infections can be fatal and basically if you un-clipped the clamp and took the cap off the bottom she would bleed to death... so they are a bit scary.
